Metal Recycling information for Vancouver

Getting rid of metal can be easy and sometimes profitable.  There are several options available to you if you have metal waste that you need to get rid of.
  1. The Vancouver Landfill or South Vancouver Transfer Station will accept metal dropped off at their locations free of charge.  The Transfer Station is a more convenient option as their recycling centre is located at the entrance to the waste building and does not require that you wait in line for the weigh scale.

  2. Call a junk removal service to have your metal picked up.  There will be charges for this service, however most companies such as CMI offer discounted rates for all metal loads as they do not have to pay dumping fees. CMI can be reached at (604) 805-0287 or visit their website for info on disposal services and rates.

  3. If you have a large load of scrap metal (over 1000 lbs) and a truck capable of transporting it, you can sell it to a metal recycling company for a small return.  Typical rates paid are $50 per ton. This can be risky however as you are expected to maneuver around large trucks in the yard and may get a tire puncture from stray nails or sharp pieces of metal on the ground.  If you decide to try it, call one of the metal recycling companies listed below for prices:
